Gigi Palsu Adalah :
Dental fillings is a procedure to repair cavities or damaged teeth, by inserting filling material into the problematic tooth. The filling method and filling material used will be adjusted to the patient’s dental condition.
Cavities occur when bacteria in the mouth produce acid. Over time, these acids can erode the outermost layer (enamel) of teeth, making cavities. If not treated immediately, a hole in the tooth can cause further damage, such as tooth loss (dislodgement) and pulpitis.

Purpose of Dental Fillings
The dental filling procedure aims to restore the shape and function of damaged or cavities to teeth. Signs that a tooth needs to be filled include:
- Toothache appears suddenly without any trigger
- Pain when biting or when consuming sweet, cold, or hot foods or drinks
- Discoloration of teeth to brown or blackish-brown
Dental fillings can also be done to repair cracked, broken, or eroded teeth due to certain habits, such as grinding teeth or biting nails
Prepatory Stage Before Dental Fillings
Before dental fillings are performed, there is a preparatory stage to determine the right method and type of filling material, including:
Medical history check = is the first step taken by the dentist before running a tooth filling is to check the patient’s medical history. At this stage, inform your doctor if you : are pregnant or breastfeeding, are taking medical or herbal drugs, planning to use braces in the near future, have allergies to metals, mercury, or other materials contained in dental fillings, taking blood-thinning or blood pressure-lowering medications. By knowing the patient’s condition, the doctor can take preventive steps against possible risks. For example, the doctor will look for alternative patch materials if the patient is allergic to certain ingredients.
Dental condition check = after checking the patient’s medical history, the doctor will see the condition of the patient’s teeth. If necessary, the doctor will suggest additional tests, such as dental X-rays.
What To Do After Dental Fillings
After the filling procedure is complete, the dentist will teach the patient how to care for the filling and prevent infections that can occur in the filled tooth. Ways that patients can do include:
- Brushing your teeth with toothpaste containing fluoride regularly 2 times a day
- Clean the gap regularly with dental floss (dental floss)
- Check and clean your teeth regularly at the dentist
- Eating a nutritionally balanced diet
